PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the washing of cultured shellfish to effect the desirable growth of the shellfish or spat. SOLUTION: The washing method comprises the immersion of a cultured shellfish S in a treating liquid A-1 containing mononitroguaiacol, phenoxyethanol and ethyl alcohol for a prescribed period in the culturing process of the shellfish.
