The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1005893/C2/1> wherein A is a divalent straight- or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, B is a single bond or a group -A1-NH, wherein the nitrogen atom is attached to the quinoline nucleus and A1 is a divalent straight or branched-chain aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, non-toxic acid addition salts thereof, and their preparation by oxidation of the corresponding piperazine derivatives. The compounds of the invention have anti-malarial activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral, parenteral or rectal administration, such as tablets, pills, powders, granules, capsules, emulsions, solutions, suspensions, syrups, elixirs or suppositories.
