PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus both for discriminating microbes which enable the simultaneous and easy discrimination of plural kinds of microbes composing a microbial community, to provide a method for composing a data base for discriminating microbes and to provide a recording medium where a microbe-discriminating program is recorded. SOLUTION: This method for discriminating microbes is composed of the following steps: a step S1 for performing the analytical experiment of microbes by an SSC-PCR (Single Strain Counting Polymerase Chain Reaction) method; a step S2 for inputting an electrophoretic pattern obtained by the analytical experiment; a step S3 for detecting bands from an image data; a step S4 for performing image correction; a step S5 for measuring the positions and intensities of the bands; a step S6 for making out a list for band data by summarizing measured results; a stop S7 for performing data base retrieval by using the list; and a step S8 for displaying retrieval results.
