摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a mechanism in the periphery of an ink carriage is further complicated thereby increasing costs when a height position of the ink carriage is to be changed so as to maintain a distance between a printing head and a recording medium constant even if a thickness of the recording medium changes and that scanning of the ink carriage becomes unstable due to the change of the height position. SOLUTION: A height position of a platen 11 for guiding the paper P is adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the paper P, so that the distance between the printing head 22 and a surface of the paper P is made a constant value L at all times. Since a fly speed and a hitting point of ink particles are thus made constant even if the thickness of the paper P changes, a printing quality can be stabilized. At the same time, troubles such as rubbing during printing and jamming during transfer through contact between the printing head and the recording medium, breaking the printing head, etc., can be prevented. Moreover, a mechanism as a whole can be simplified because of the absence of the need of complicating the mechanism in the periphery of the ink carriage, and a printing quality decrease is avoided because the ink carriage is prevented from being unstable in scanning due to the change of the height position thereof.
