PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the smoothness of the cut surface by preventing a large number of fuzzy lines from being generated, and eliminate a stripe pattern by surely smoothening the fuzzy lines which periodically occur. SOLUTION: A semi-hardened state mortar block M is moved while reciprocating a cutting wire 11 and a smoothening wire 12 in the wire direction. Then, a cut surface is formed by the cutting wire 11 which works prior, and the cut surface is smoothened by the smoothening wire 12 which works following to the cutting wire 11. By setting the pre-tension of the smoothening wire 12 to be smaller than the pretension of the cutting wire 11, folding back locations at both ends of the reciprocation of the cutting wire and the smoothening wire on the cut surface are prevented from meeting.
