PURPOSE:To provide colored polymer particles having a uniform particle diameter distribution and an excellent shelf life, to provide a toner for developing an electrostatic image having an excellent shelf life and frictional chargeability, and to provide an immunoassay carrier having excellent capability of effecting judgment with the naked eye, quick reactivity and facilitating judgment. CONSTITUTION:An ethylenically unsaturated monomer serving as at least the base of polymer particles and a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator are added to an aqueous phase, and the resulting reactive solution is heated to initiate polymerization. While the conversion of the monomer into a polymer is 20-85%, an aqueous dispersion of a colorant is added to the reaction system to allow the polymer particles to occlude the colorant. The obtained colored polymer particles are utilized as a toner for developing an electrostatic image or an immunoassay carrier. |
