PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen gas separation unit capable of largely taking the effective area of a material having gas separation properties at the time of separation of hydrogen gas from mixed gas, and a method of manufacturing the hydrogen gas separation unit in consideration of the handleability of the material having gas separation properties. SOLUTION: A metal support 11 and a material (palladium alloy foil) 13 having hydrogen gas separation properties are subjected to cladding processing to be laminated each other and, thereafter, the central part 105 of a clad cut plate K is selectively etched using an etching liquid to expose the palladium alloy foil 13 and a metal support flate 11 is arranged to obtain the hydrogen gas separation unit A.
