PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an imaging apparatus in such a manner that an image is formed on an adequate potion by an imaging unit provided at a downstream side of a sheet conveyance path in a hybrid type image forming apparatus wherein a plurality of imaging means having different recording systems are combined. SOLUTION: A position of a side end of a recording sheet S just before entering a printing position of an ink jet type recording head section 36 provided at the downstream side is detected by a CCD line sensor SE2. A write timing is corrected based on the detected result so that the imaging by the recording head section 36 is performed on an adequate portion of the recording sheet S.
