PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a model animal useful for the analysis of the relationship between the feed and the occurrence of hypertriglyceridemia for the investigation of the cause of hypertriglyceridemia. SOLUTION: A new hereditary postcibal hypertriglyceridemia rabbit exhibiting normal serum triglyceride level in starved state and increasing the level by the administration of feed is prepared by backcrossing Watanabe heritable hyperlipidemic rabbit with Japanese white rabbit and selecting a body having high triglyceride level.
