Disclosed is an electroluminescent element comprising at least one compound containing at least one unit represented by formula (1):wherein X1 represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or >NR6; R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6, which are the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, provided that at least one of R2, R3, R4 and R5 represents an aromatic group; Ra and Rb, which are the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent; Ar1 represents an aromatic linking group; and Ar2 and Ar3 each represents an aromatic group.
