PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing device of water in a pool or sterilizing method sufficiently exhibiting sterilizing performance without discoloring water in the pool, through water is sterilized with chlorine dioxide. SOLUTION: This sterilizing device of water is provided with a chlorine dioxide generator 1 for generating chlorine dioxide and a chlorine dioxide feeding device 6 for feeding the chlorine dioxide generated by the chlorine dioxide generator 1. The chlorine dioxide feeding device 1 is constituted to feed 0.25-0.50 mg/l chlorine dioxide per day.
