PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side trimming apparatus of a steel strip which can reliably achieve the side trimming even when the steel strip is changed in width step by step. SOLUTION: This side trimming apparatus comprises a steering roll device 10 to achieve the centering by displacing the steel strip m in the strip width direction, and a side trimmer 20 cutting ears e on both sides of the steel strip m, the side trimmer 20 is provided with a trimmer knife 23 arranged at the angleθof inclination with respect to the traveling direction of the steel strip m, and a shifting mechanism displacing the trimmer knife 23 in the width direction of the steel. The large meandering of the steel strip m is corrected by the steering roll device 10, and the final fine adjustment can be achieved by shifting the trimmer knife 23. Thus, even when the width of the steel strip m is displaced step by step, the trimmer knife 23 can follow the displacement, and the ears e on both sides of the steel strip m can be reliably removed.
