Adhesive (7) is used to bond two discs (1, 8) together, except in a central region (4, 11) next to the central openings (3, 12) of the discs, where they are welded together. A method for making an optical data carrier from two round plastic discs, each with a central opening and a surface (6, 9) containing a series of laser-readable depressions (2, 9), comprises applying adhesive to at least one of the disc surfaces and bonding the two discs together with the adhesive, except in a central region next to the central openings, where the discs are welded together. An Independent claim is also included for the disc used to make the data carrier, which has at least one raised region (5) extending around the central opening, used to form the weld between the two discs. |
