The measuring device includes friction parts (4a, 4b) for tensioning the yarn (1), a measuring wheel (2) with a peripheral blade for the yarn to travel around before it reaches the transport device, a pulsing device which receives a pre-determined number of pulses each time the wheel completes a revolution, and a control device (6) connected to the pulsing device and used to calculate whether the cut yarn length is as least as long as the pre-inputted length. A device for measuring the length of a weft yarn comprises a device for transporting a pre-selected length of yarn from a magazine and a yarn cutting device located immediately before the transport device for cutting the yarn at a pre-determined moment in the measuring cycle. Friction parts create a pre-determined yarn tension and the yarn is made to turn at least one revolution around a measuring wheel with a peripheral blade before it reaches the transport device. A pulsing device cooperating with the wheel is designed to receive a pre-determined number of pulses each time the wheel completes a revolution. A control device connected to the pulsing device is used to calculate whether the cut yarn length is as least as long as the pre-inputted length, and if this is not the case, the control device will emit an alarm. |
