PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of performing collation work between a large number of faces registered in a database and a face photographed in a collation source image. SOLUTION: In the case of collating processing between the first face photographed in the collation source image and the second face registered in the database, first of all, a three-dimensional(3D) face model 21 for orientation of the second face is generated from feature points P01-P07 for orientation and the direction of the face model 21 is found so that the positional relation of the feature points P01-P07 in the image projected on the plane of X3-Y3 can be coincident with the positional relation of the feature points P01-P07 of the first figure in the collation source image. Next, a 3D face model 23 for identification turned in the direction of the second figure is generated from feature points P11-P25 for identification. The degree of coincidence between the image of this face model 23 projected on the plane of X3-Y3 and a face photographed in the collation source image is calculated while using the coordinate data of the feature points P11-P25 inside both the images.
