Remote control has multiple antennae (48A-F) each emitting control signal and interrogation signal across associated area of vehicle. Control circuit (34) controls antennae to sequentially emit control signals. Transponder (44) emits response signal when in required area and control circuit determines which antenna is operational to allow operation of vehicle function when transponder responds to interrogation signal.
