PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily avoid misdetection by a tilt sensor when the misdetection is apt to occur. SOLUTION: A tilt sensor is provided which detects a camera body being at a longitudinal or lateral position. Variation of the output signal of the tilt sensor in a specific time is detected (step 203). When the output signal varies within a specifide time (step 208), it is decided that a tilt angle as a default value is the actual tilt angle of the camera body (step 209). When the output signal does not vary within the specifide time, it is decided that the tilt angle corresponding to the output signal at this time is the actual tilt angle of the camera body (step 210).
