PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a conventional multistage floating ring seal from self-excited oscillation by a simple constitution which often causes accidents such as causing the self-excited oscillation in which floating rings in respective stages are alternately self-excited, touching the floating ring with a main shaft sleeve, and deteriorating a sealing performance. SOLUTION: When the natural frequencies of the floating rings in the respective stages are differed, the self-excited oscillation can be prevented. Therefore the shapes, materials, and quantities of the floating rings, and shapes and spatial dimension of floating ring receivers are changed so as to differ the natural frequencies of the floating rings.
