PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior sealing performance compared with a conventional one by enlarging the effective seal width of a liquid packing P. SOLUTION: This cylinder head gasket 1 is provided with a substrate 1' clamped between a cylinder head and a cylinder block and sealing the interval between them and a bead 7 provided in one end 1a of the substrate and sealing an interval toward a joining part 4a of a cover 4 fitted to the cylinder head and the cylinder block covering thereon. This cylinder head gasket 1 is so set that the end 7a of the bead 7 is positioned inward of the center O of the joining part 4a of the cover 4.
