PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain corona shielding devices of stator windings of a rotating electric machine which can suppress are discharge between adjacent stator windings even if low resistance corona shield layers are formed in the directions approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal directions of the stator windings and hence facilitate the forming of the shielding devices in comparison with a conventional constitution wherein the low resistance corona shield layers are formed in inclined directions. SOLUTION: Surface corona preventive layers, composed of low resistance corona shield layers 5, medium resistance corona shield layers which are formed on the surfaces E of discharge suppression object stator windingsαwhich face adjacent stator windingsβto cover areas from edges of the low resistance coronal shield layers 5 to positions C corresponding to the edges B of the low resistance coronal shield layers 5 of the stator windingsβand high resistance corona shield layers formed outside the medium resistance coronal shield layers connected to the low resistance corona shield layers and the medium resistance corona shield layers, and applied to the surfaces of stator windings 2.
