PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rocker arm and a method for manufacturing it, capable of suitably restraining the increase of a cost, while securing strength required for a pivot end. SOLUTION: The rocker arm 17 has one end to be pivotally supported and opens and closes an engine valve, on the basis of the oscillation of the other end according to the rotation of a cam. The pivot end 18 is integrally formed on both side pieces 20 as an arm body into an approximately U-shaped section, and the wall thickness part of a connecting part 18a for both side pieces 20 is thickened. A projecting hole 18b made by burring is provided on the thickened connecting part 18a, and an internal thread, into which an adjust screw for the tappet adjustment is to be inserted is formed on the inner peripheral surface 18c of the projecting hole 18b.
