PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an image of high quality free from banding by suppressing the velocity fluctuation of a photoreceptor. SOLUTION: Rotary driving force by a driving motor is applied to a drum driving gear 8 fixed to an intermediate transfer drum 41 on the rotary shaft of the drum 41 to rotate the intermediate transfer drum 41. Besides, a photoreceptor driving gear 9 is fixed to the photoreceptor 21 on the rotary shaft of the photoreceptor 21 under the condition where the photoreceptor driving gear 9 is engaged with the drum driving gear 8. In the case that the number of teeth of the gear 8 and the number of teeth of the gear 9 are expressed by Z1 and Z2, respectively, and the diameter of the intermediate transfer drum 41 and the diameter of the photoreceptor 21 are expressed by D1 and D2, respectively, the following inequality is satisfied; Z2/Z1>D2/D1. Consequently, even in the case that external force working in a direction of accelerating the circumferential velocity of the photoreceptor 21 is applied on the photoreceptor 21, the drum driving gear 8 functions as a stopper for the photoreceptor driving gear 9, then, the circumferential velocity fluctuation of the photoreceptor 21 is prevented. |
