PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water way gate which can indirectly and collectively bear operations of a door body to open/close an opening, i.e., both loads applied thereto during vertical movement and lengthwise movement. SOLUTION: The water way gate which can be operated for opening/closing the opening 2 of a gate main body 1 with the vertically operable door body 3, has a vertical motion operating mechanism and a lengthwise motion operating mechanism. The vertical motion operating mechanism can vertically operate the door body 3 from an upper location to a lower location correctly opposite to the opening 2. The lengthwise motion operating mechanism can lengthwise moves the door body 3 at the lower location in an opening axial direction with respect to the opening 2, to thereby carry out opening/closing operation. An operating mechanism system of both the vertical motion operating mechanism and the lengthwise motion operating mechanism undertakes transmission and bearing of load, which is carried out via a reinforcing frame body 4 which is arranged, in one body, on a plate surface of the door body 3, being opposed to the opening 2.
