PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having a wide visual field angle, bright display and excellent display characteristics. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a pair of substrates 11 opposed to each other and having polarizing plates 13 whose polarization axes are orthogonal to each other and a liquid crystal layer 15 interposed between the substrates 11. The liquid crystal layer 15 holds liquid crystal molecules 17 in a region divided by a polymer wall 16 having a face parallel to the substrates 11 and the liquid crystal molecules 17 are aligned in a plane parallel to the substrates 11 in a light transmitting state.
