PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the driving method of a plasma display panel capable of making a picture to be a multi-level picture easily without incurring the large increase of a driving time and an increase in cost or the like. SOLUTION: There is no difference between first and second subfields as to the length of a displacement part T1 to be generated in a circuit for displacement (high impedance circuit or an electric charge recovering circuit). But, as to a voltage holding part which is to be held at a sustaining pulse voltage Vs, the length of a period T2 holding the sustaining pulse voltage Vs is set so that a sustaining pulse Psu2 falls down after a light emission intensity reaches a peak in the second subfield and in contrast with this, the length of a period T' 1 holding the sustaining pulse voltage Vs is set to the extent that a sustaining pulse Psu2 falls down before the light emission intensity reaches the peak by a sustaining potential holding circuit having a low impedance in the first subfield. As a result, the emission luminance of the first subfield becomes lower than that of the second subfield. |
