PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spatial delay type Fizeau interferometer, capable of fully compensating delay between signal light and reference light, by spatially dividing low-coherence light and imparting delay to the low-coherence light prior to its incidence on a Fizeau interferometer, to generate interference by generation of spatially isotropic backscattering in a biological sample, when the low-coherence light is incident on the Fizeau interferometer. SOLUTION: This spatial delay type Fizeau interferometer is disposed with a delay optical element 21 with spatially divided low-coherence light and imparting the delay to the low-coherence light. When the low-coherence light is incident on the Fizeau interferometer, the generation of the spatially isotropic backscattering in the biological sample causes the interference to compensate the delay between the signal light and the reference light.
