PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily manufacturable steel shaft maintaining a superior strength even after exposure in a high temperature atmosphere of diffusion joining between a cam lobe and the shaft, and a manufacturing method of an assembled camshaft. SOLUTION: A shaft 2 is used for an assembled camshaft 1 formed by diffusion joining of a cam lobe 3 made from sintered alloy powder and the steel shaft 2, and is made of high carbon content chromium bearing steel material to achieve the purpose mentioned above. Also in a manufacturing method of the assembled camshaft, the shaft 2 processed in designated dimensions by drawing of spheroidize-annealed high carbon content chromium bearing steel material a cam lobe 3 of a compact moulding in designated dimensions formed from sintered alloy powder are made, and the cam lobe 3 is assembled on the shaft 2 and is diffusion-jointed.
