PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, capable of improving self-diagnosis accuracy and reducing frequencies for stooping a self-diagnosis. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an on-vehicle self-diagnostic means for performing a self-diagnosis for an engine 1; a load control means for controlling load applied to the engine 1; and an ECU 5, a steady operation control means, for controlling to a steady operation state with load fluctuations of the engine being suppressed by operating at least one of an electric actuator 24, a motor 21, a CTV 22 and VTC 23, the load control means, during execution of self-diagnosis by the self-diagnostic means. |
