PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize transfer of supervisory information of an optical fiber transmission system, without having to reduce the output power of an optical fiber amplifier. SOLUTION: The transfer of supervisory information can be realized in such a way that a supervisory optical transmitter and the optical receiver which have nearly the same wavelength as that of an excitation light source of an optical fiber amplifier are provided in an optical repeater, a first optical multiplexer/demultiplexer multiplexes excitation light in the forward direction and demultiplexes a supervisory optical signal that is transmitted, while being subjected to wavelength multiplex processing, a supervisory optical receiver receives the demultiplexed signals at the input side of an optical repeater at the same time, a second optical multiplexer/demultiplexer multiplexes the excitation light in the reverse direction at the output side of the optical repeater and the supervisory optical transmitter outputs the multiplexed signal at the same time. Thus, the transfer of the supervisory information can be realized with a simple configuration. |
