PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain energy loss, by controlling the normal and reversal rotation of an oil pump for operating a conversion means and preventing energy efficiency from deteriorating. SOLUTION: A vane 14, provided between a housing 6 of a sprocket 1 and a cam shaft 4, is rotated normally or reversely by supply/discharge of relative oil pressure to an advance side oil chamber 15 and a delay side oil chamber 16, to convert the relative rotational phases of both sides. A d.c. drive motor 34 is provided for rotationally driving an oil pump 22 for supplying oil pressure to respective advance side and delay side oil chambers 16. The drive motor is constituted of a normal and reverse rotatable motor, and the oil pump is controlled in the normal rotation or reverse rotation via the drive motor, when the operation of a conversion means 3 of the vane is switched. |
