PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it is difficult to perform the exposure of silver halide photography and electronic image pickup in exact timing with the light emission of a stroboscope in a camera used both for silver halide photography and electronic image pickup where an XY address type area sensor is used for an electronic image pickup element. SOLUTION: This camera used both for silver halide photography and electronic image pickup is provided with the electronic image pickup means having the XY address type area sensor 33 converting to an image electric signal in synchronization with a silver halide photographic means for performing photography by exposing silver halide film 22, a strobe light emitting means 46 radiating strobe light, a stroboscope control means for controlling to radiate the emitted light of the stroboscope in timing that a focal-plane shutter is totally opened, and an electronic shutter controlling the storage of the exposure charge of a subject image in all the pixel elements in a shorter time than the time required to fetch the image electric signals of all the pixel elements. Then, full speed synchronous light emission is performed from the strobe light emitting means all over the period when exposure is performed by the focal-plane shutter and the electronic shutter.
