Seat mechanism comprises first and second cheek webs (7,15) connected by hypocycloidal gearing (10) driven by an eccentric cam (16) controlled by a shaft (11) rotating in a bearing (12) in the first cheek web. Cam comprises two clamping bodies (24) which are normally held engaged in two wedge shaped spaces (27a,27b) delimited by the cam. Each clamping body is pushed towards the corresponding space by a spring (22) supported on the control shaft.
