摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber output semiconductor device of high output power and high efficiency by holding the positional relation between a semiconductor laser and an optical waveguide and stably combining them, and to obtain an assembling method wherein positioning of the constituent components is facilitated in the case of assembling. SOLUTION: In an external resonator type semiconductor laser 101, a light having the same wavelength and the same transverse mode as the wavelength and transverse mode which are obtained by oscillation as an external resonator type laser is made to enter from a fiber 110 side while cutting is performed in the middle part of an external resonator and a current is injected from power source connection terminals 109a, 109b, optical detection is performed at a reflecting surface side of the semiconductor laser 101, and position adjustment is performed in accordance with the detected result. As a result, positioning to the optimum adjustment position as an external resonator type semiconductor laser is facilitated, and easy assembling can be realized. The semiconductor laser 101 is closely in contact with the optical waveguide 104, so that the positional relation between them can be stably held.
