PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more properly use input/output equipment corresponding to the equipment level of external equipment. SOLUTION: Concerning the device and the method for controlling input/ output for determining the control function of an input/output device for processing an instruction from the external equipment, this device is operated to set the equipment level of the external equipment out of plural equipment levels by communicating with the external equipment and to process the instruction from the external equipment corresponding to the set equipment level.
