SOLUTION: This rectangular alkaline secondary battery is equipped with a metallic container 1 with a rectangular cross section, an electrode group 5, housed in the container 1, comprising a positive electrode 3 and a negative electrode 4 containing nickel hydroxide and alkaline electrolyte housed in the container 1, wherein it is characterized in that the volume energy density of the secondary battery is >=150 WH/L, the hardness of the container 1 is >=120 HV1, and the plate thickness of the container ranges in 0.20-0.40 mm. |
