<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and reliably regenerate a filter for collecting particulates in exhaust gas of a diesel engine by microwave power. SOLUTION: Surface waves are uniformly generated on a holding part of a cylindrical ceramic honeycomb filter 3 of ring-shaped disc spacers 11, 11 for holding the cylindrical ceramic honeycomb filter 3 in a housing device 4, and the surface waves are transmitted on the front layer part of the cylindrical ceramic honeycomb filter 3 in the axial direction of the housing device in the TM mode. Therefore, only the central part of the cylindrical ceramic honeycomb filter 3 is prevented from being heated to an abnormally high temperature, the overall cylindrical ceramic honeycomb filter 3 is heated uniformly, and the colleted particulates can be efficiently burnt, without generating abnormal overheating of the filter.</p> |
