摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal lens whose rising time is shortened. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal lens 100 includes a nematic liquid crystal 150 having positive dielectric constant anisotropy and a cell 120 holding it in a projecting shape. The cell 110 has a flat plate substrate 120 and a recessed face substrate 130 joined to each other through a sealing agent 140. The flat plate substrate 120 is provided with a flat plate shaped plate material 122, two transparent electrodes 124a and 124b different in size and a parallel alignment layer 126 covering the transparent electrodes. The recessed face substrate 130 is provided with a plate material 132 having a recessed face, two transparent electrodes 134a and 134b different in size and a parallel alignment layer 136 covering the electrodes. The boundary part of the two transparent electrodes 124a and 124b of the flat plate substrate 120 and the boundary part of the two transparent electrodes 134a and 134b of the recessed face substrate 130 are positioned symmetrically to a line which passes the center of the liquid crystal lens 100 and is perpendicular to alignment treating directions A126 and A136.
