PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handle device, by which initial starting force in the case of the opening of a sliding door having large weight such as a heat insulating sash adopting a sweeping out window for a terrace or double glazing is reduced and opening operation is facilitated even by the aged and a handicapped person and which also has excellent appearance. SOLUTION: In the handle device installed to the double sliding doors, the handle device has a handle 10 gripped in the case of opening and closing, a base 20 being fitted at another end section of the handle 10 by the projecting second shaft section 13b and rotatably holding the handle 10 and a roller arm 30 being fixed to the third shaft section 13c of the handle 10 and holding a roller 34 at its one end, the roller arm 30 is operated, using the shaft section 13b as a fulcrum by adding operating physical force to the handle 10, and the roller 34 held at one end of the roller arm is abutted against the vertical-frame side face of the peripheral frame of the door, and the abutting force is used as starting force in the case of the opening of the door.
