PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic thesis retrieving/providing service device capable of absorbing a different definition for each publisher, authenticating an access authority in place of each publisher and performing charging according to the reading contract of an electronic thesis. SOLUTION: This device is provide with meta-data 201 and 202 provided for each of publishers for providing electronic theses and described in respectively different definitions, meta-data load means 110d for loading the respective meta-data 201 and 202 while absorbing the respective different definitions, data base 111 constructed by storing the data loaded by the meta-data load means 110d, retrieving means 110d for retrieving the data base 111, link information display means 110d for displaying the information of link to the electronic thesis pointed by the meta-data 201 and 202, and access means 110d for accessing the pointed electronic thesis.
