PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold discharge lamp device, with increased luminous area, which improves work efficiency of mounting a cold cathode tube and suppresses emission irregularity on a luminous surface. SOLUTION: This cold cathode discharge lamp device comprises at least a cold cathode tube 11 with lead wires 5 in its end points 11a, a base, a holder which supports the cold cathode tube 11 on the base and the luminous surface of the cold cathode tube 11. The cold cathode tube 11 has at least one end points 11a bent perpendicular to the luminous surface and light blocking treatment 13 is given to bent legs 12 of the end points 11a.
