PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a correct calibration value without executing calibration by actually passing currents to a VCM in head unloading. SOLUTION: A CPU 25 successively passes the currents varying in plural ways to the VCM 14 in starting the loading of a head 12, acquires the calibration value of a counter-electromotive voltage monitor circuit 170 by reading the counter- electromotive voltage monitor value of the circuit 170 at each time and executes head loading control by using the calibration value. The CPU 25 measures the temperature in the device near the VCM 14 by using temperature sensors 24 at the loading start and unloading start of the head 12, corrects the previously acquired calibration value based on the temperature correction coefficient indicating the relation between the temperature change saved in a FROM 26 and the change rate of the calibration value of the counter-electromotive voltage monitor circuit 170 and the difference between the two measured temperatures, and uses the value for the unloading control of the head.
