<p>A detector for detecting the start and end edges of a magnetic tape in a DV miniature cassette based on the difference in the transmittance of light, e.g. infrared light, in which an emission light source (2) is located 1.5 mm higher than the standard center (7) of the DV miniature cassette and a light receiving element (3) is located 1.0 mm lower than the standard center (7) of the DV miniature cassette. Since the reflected light (6) from a flange (1) under the tape does not impinge on the light receiving element (3), erroneous operation due to the reflected light (6) can be eliminated and the start and end edges of the magnetic tape can be detected accurately.</p> |
