<p>Anthracene derivatives of the general formula (I); and organic electroluminescent(EL) devices each having at least an organic light-emitting layer sandwiched between a pair of electrodes and containing the derivatives [wherein X and Y are each a trivalent group derived from an aromatic ring; (1) A1 to A4 are each aryl or a monovalent heterocyclic group or (2) A?1 and A3¿ are each hydrogen, and A?2 and A4¿ are each styryl whose phenyl moiety may be substituted and which may be substituted by C¿1-30? alkyl at the α- or β-position; R?1 to R16¿ are each hydrogen, halogeno, cyano, nitro, alkyl, or the like; Q is arylene or the like; and p is 0, 1, or 2]. The anthracene derivatives exhibit high light emitting efficiency and heat resistance, when used as the light-emitting constituent of organic EL devices.</p> |
