<p>Lubricating oil compositions containing a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and, in an amount effective to reduce fuel consumption in an internal combustion engine, a monoester of glycerol and a carboxylic acid containing 12 to 20 carbon atoms and 0 to 3 double bonds, or a mixture of a monoester and a diester of glycerol and a carboxylic acid containing 12 to 20 carbon atoms and 0 to 3 double bonds wherein at least 75 mole percent of the mixture is monoester are useful for improving the fuel economy of internal combustion engines.</p> |
