Powder pressing device comprises a pressing plate (12) with a hole forming a hollow chamber; an upper stamp (14) and a lower stamp (16) for pressing a magnetic rare earth alloy powder (18) which is poured into the chamber; and a device for producing a magnetic field parallel to the pressing direction on the alloy powder in the chamber. At least one of the stamps has a bent pressing surface molded so that movement of the particles is suppressed along the pressing surface during pressing. An Independent claim is also included for a rare earth permanent magnet. Preferred Features: The pressing surface has a pattern formed on the pressing surface having concave and/or convex sections. The pattern extends in a direction parallel to he reference plane and vertical to he pressing direction.
