The power saving or economy light provides a more uniform light yield and light distribution with can be favorably compared with that obtained from the conventional candle-bulb lamps, and the outer shape of the glass encapsulating bulb corresponds to that of the earlier candle-shaped filament lamps. Only a single straight gas-discharge bulb is used and is mounted on one side of the light base. One or more electrical connections are provided to the other end of the gas-discharge bulb inside the glass encapsulating bulb.
