Use of compounds of the formula where A, is -CHR<3>-CHR<4>-, -CR<5>=CR<6>-, -C IDENTICAL C-, or -COO- and E is a heterocycle, and R<1>, R<2>, p and q have the meanings given in the specification are GluR6 antagonists useful for the treatment of disorders of the central nervous system, e.g. epilepsy.
