Signal (STX) is received by an antenna. The received signal (SRX) is divided in terms of its phase relationship between a real (SRES,R) and imaginary part (SRES,I). Only the imaginary part of the signal is used in determining the noise signal level (PV1). The determined values for signal power level (PV2) and noise signal level are used to determine the signal to noise ratio.
