The device has a tongue crossing point/wheel overrun section (24) with crossing grooves having projecting sides. The tongue crossing section consists of two longitudinal construction profiles (12,14), each corresponding to one half of the crossing nose section. The profiles are connected via welding, adhesive, and/or screw connections. The tongue crossing section has an internal wear-proof insert (52), and the profiles have apertures to accommodate it. The insert is esp. of wear-resistant austenitic manganese steel, or self-hardening and/or tempered steel.
