The washer or clamping saddle(3) is fitted from one end of the screw(1) over a shoulder(10) of larger diameter onto a shank section of reduced diameter. The diameter(D1) and/or the circumferential extent of the shoulder is slightly larger than the diameter(D2) and/or circumferential extent of a hole(11) formed in the washer or clamping saddle. The shank section of reduced diameter is smaller than the diameter and circumferential extent of the shoulder. A conical bevel(12) joins the shoulder in the direction of the free end of the screw. An independent claim is included for a procedure for fitting a washer or clamping saddle on the free end of a screw.
